Page 1 of 2 Stephen Ministers are trained individuals who are skilled at helping people through times of personal crisis in their lives. These “care givers” work with “care receivers” to provide caring confidential, Christian support at no charge. Stephen Ministry, began in 1974, is a nationwide program program which has developed training and resources characterized by confidentiality, practicality, integrity, and Christian beliefs since 1974. The name "Stephen" Ministry comes from St. Stephen, who was the first lay person commissioned by the apostles to provide caring ministry to those in need (as recorded in Acts 6).
The first Stephen Minister’s training class at Christ The King began in January, 2004. To date, 26 men and women have completed the 50 hours of Stephen Ministry training and have gone on to help many past and current care receivers walk through difficult times in their lives.
If you’re interested in serving as a Stephen Minister or know someone who could benefit who is in need of a Stephen Minister to walk by their side, contact the church office via email or by phone (727) 595-2117.
